I’m starting a civic systems project called Patch Notes for Society. The idea is simple: take hard public problems and analyze them like inherited systems: history, incentives, bugs, tradeoffs, metrics, migration plans, and what could go wrong. The first public set is live: prisons, housing, healthcare, education, addiction/mental health, money in politics, immigration, climate/energy, cost of living, and gun violence/public safety. These are v0.1 essays, not victory laps. I’m looking for sharp critique from people who know the systems from the inside: researchers, operators, practitioners, lawyers, advocates, public officials, funders, and people directly affected by these systems.
